Apple II, AppleWorks en het printen naar ASCII-bestand.

De setup in Appleworks, uit de handleiding:

1. On the main menu, choose 5 (Other Activities)
2. On the Other Activities menu, choose 7 (Specify information about your printer)
3. On the Printer Information Menu, choose Add a printer
4. Choose the Apple SilenType
5. Give it a name (ToDisk will do)
6. Do not choose a slot, but choose 7 (Print onto disk or on another Apple)
7. Press ESC a few times to get back to the main menu

Je printer ToDisk staat nu in de afdrukopties in OopenApple+P. Kies die printer voor afdrukken. Zodra Appleworks vraagt om een padnaam, voer dan in:

/%disklabel%/%filename%

%disklabel% = het volumelabel van de diskette
en
%filename% = zelf te kiezen bestandsnaam

Via het hoofdmenu kun je bladeren naar bestanden op je diskette en zie je ook het volumelabel.

N.B.: wil je vervolgens iets met het tekstbestand doen in Linux, zul je de linebreaks (^M) moeten vervangen door \r:

dos2unix -c mac %filename%

Je zult aan het eind een 60 tal lege regels krijgen, die je in VISUAL-mode in vim gemakkelijk kunt verwijderen.
